Overview

Chamomilla Recutita flower oil is an essential oil obtained via distillation from chamomile flowers. The blue-colored essential oil is used in skincare for its powerful soothing, anti-inflammatory effects and for its pleasant and calming smell.

Chamomile flowers are one of the most common and widely used natural remedies for a variety of ailments. When taken orally in form of tea, chamomile has soothing effects on the stomach and intestines and is a gentle sleep aid.

The smell and interesting blue color of chamomile essential oil are due to the constituent called chamazulene. Another nice smelling, but colorless compound is bisabolol. These compounds are soothing and gentle on all types of skin, suitable even for infants and toddlers.

People allergic to ragweed (Ambrosia) should be careful with this ingredient, as they might cross-react to chamomile because the plants are closely related.
