Overview

Grapes (Vitis vinifera) contain many different compounds that are beneficial in skincare. A few of these include organic acids such as tartaric, ferulic, and caftaric acids, polyphenols, resveratrol, anthocyanins, and tannins. These are antioxidant and astringent and provide flavor and color to skincare products.

Organic acids from grape juice have been used as an exfoliating agent and caftaric acid, as well as other polyphenols from grape juice, have been tested as potential new anti-pigment agents (although this is yet to be confirmed).
