Overview

Vaccinium macrocarpon fruit extract is a bright red extract obtained from cranberry fruits. This species of cranberry is commonly grown on a large scale in so-called ‘cranberry bogs’ in the USA and Canada. They are commonly eaten dried or cooked into jams and preserves. Raw cranberries have a very sour, tart, and astringent taste.

The cranberry extract is rich in anthocyanins – red and purple plant pigments with powerful antioxidant activities. Its other abundant substances include tannins, which are responsible for its astringent taste and which have the same effect on the skin.

This extract in skincare products offers astringent and skin tightening effects, as well as antioxidant protection.
