Overview

Tropaeolum majus flower/leaf/stem extract is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory extract derived from the garden nasturtium, Tropaeolum majus (not to be confused with Nasturtium officinale, which is a related, but different, plant).

The bright orange flowers have a pungent spicy taste caused by sulfur-containing compounds called glucosinolates. These give the Tropaeolum majus extract its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its mustard-like odor.

People allergic to mustard should be careful with this ingredient as they may have a reaction to Tropaeolum majus extract as well, due to the presence of the same allergens.
