Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract

Overview

Triticum vulgare germ extract is a water-soluble extract derived from the germ part of the wheat grain.

It is different from “fermented wheat germ extract”, as it does not go through the yeast fermentation process. It contains proteins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, folate, B vitamins, minerals (especially phosphorus), and various other antioxidants.

It is claimed to be able to treat skin pigmentation issues due to its ability to balance the ratio of darker and lighter skin pigment, and because it balances the antioxidant system in the skin. Although it is a part of several patented formulations, there are currently no studies that can confirm this claim. Nevertheless, it has great emollient effects on the skin.

This extract contains gluten and so people allergic to it should avoid this ingredient.
