Overview

Taraxacum officinale flower/leaf/stem extract is an extract obtained from all of the above-ground parts of the common dandelion, Taraxacum officinale.

The dandelion extract is beneficial in skincare in many ways. It is extremely rich in carotenoids (pro-vitamin A, powerful antioxidants), flavonoids and terpenoids (which have anti-inflammatory properties), emollient phytosterols, and choline.

In general, dandelion has a widespread tradition of use as a medicinal herb or a food source – the leaves and flowers can be eaten as a salad, and the whole plant, when extracted, is a remedy for indigestion, blood sugar control, and liver issues.
