Steareth-20 is a white to light brown waxy solid reaction product of a clear gas and stearyl alcohol.
The number of the steareth depends on the number of ethylene oxide units used in a reaction process. Hence, it takes 20 units of ethylene oxide to produce steareth-20. It's a cleansing ingredient and emulsifier that helps oil and water mix together, especially in highly acidic emulsions.
