Steareth-2

Functions
Origin
Steareth-2

Overview

Steareth-2 is a light yellow waxy solid reaction product of a clear gas and stearyl alcohol.

The number of the steareth depends on the number of ethylene oxide units used in a reaction process. Hence, it takes 2 units of ethylene oxide to produce steareth-2. It offers emulsifying properties to a formula by helping oils and water mix, especially in highly acidic emulsions.
