Overview

Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate is an anionic surfactant that is derived from the amino acid sarcosine. This anionic surfactant is a good cleansing agent, and it is milder on the skin than its sulfate counterparts.

In addition to being a gentle cleansing agent, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate also produces a large amount of foam in cleansing products. It can also control viscosity, by thickening the products it is added to.

This ingredient is supplied as a pure light yellow powder or as a light yellow liquid, which contains the powder pre-diluted into water. Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate also has antistatic and emulsifying properties, making it quite multifunctional.
