Overview

Sodium lauroyl lactylate is a nonionic surfactant that primarily functions as an emulsifier. It is most effective at creating oil-in-water emulsions when paired with other primary emulsifiers, like cetearyl glucoside.

Another function of sodium lauroyl lactylate is as a mild cleansing agent. It can be used alone or in combination with other surfactants to create a gentle cleansing product. This ingredient imparts high foaming capacity to its products, giving a creamy, dense foam. It is supplied as either a thick yellow liquid or a soft yellow wax, depending on storage temperature.
