Overview
Sodium cocoamphoacetate is an amphoteric surfactant, which means it functions as a supporting cleansing agent. Amphoteric surfactants are usually added to formulas that contain anionic surfactants, which are the primary cleansing agent, in order to make them milder on the skin.
In addition, sodium cocoamphoacetate is useful for boosting foam capabilities in cleansing products, such as hand soaps and facial washes. By using this ingredient, the foam appears more rapidly and remains foamy for longer periods of time.
Normally pre-diluted in water with an active content of around 35-40%, this ingredient can also be used to increase viscosity of cleansing products.
