Anionic surfactants serve as cleansing agents in skincare products like body washes and face washes. They are generally paired with other types of surfactants, such as amphoteric and nonionic surfactants, which reduce irritation potential of the anionic surfactants and increase viscosity of the products.
Sodium cetearyl sulfate is a powerful surfactant that produces a large volume of lightweight foam. The feel of the foam can be adjusted using other surfactants, such as cocamidopropyl betaine or cocamide DEA.
