Overview

Sodium acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer is a multi-functional ingredient with the ability to control viscosity, stabilize emulsions, and form films for water resistance.

First, the copolymer nature of this ingredient allows it to form a network throughout the product it is in, preventing the other ingredients from shifting around and effectively thickening the product. This network behavior also creates emulsion stability, by keeping the emulsion ingredients from moving around too much.

Finally, the network also acts as a film-former. In this case, the copolymer network creates a water-resistant film that protects the remaining ingredients from being washed away by water or sweat.
