Saururus chinensis extract is an anti-inflammatory and anti-pigment extract obtained from the endemic Asian plant, Saururus chinensis (Asian lizard’s tail).
In scientific studies, this extract was found to be effective at treating dry and inflamed eczematous skin. Unique phytochemicals called lignans isolated from Saururus chinensis were also found to be able to inhibit the synthesis of brown skin pigment, which could make Saururus chinensis extract a prospective anti-pigment ingredient.
Naturally, more experiments on human volunteers are necessary to confirm this hypothesis.
