Overview

Salvia sclarea oil is an essential oil obtained from the Clary Sage. The plant has lilac-colored flowers and has historically been used as an eye treatment and aromatic additive to wines and vermouths. Its aroma can be described as sweet, herbal, soft, and woody, with some undertones of lavender.

The essential oil is used in aromatherapy for relaxation. Some studies even show that it can act as an antidepressant.

This essential oil contains mainly linalool, linalyl acetate, and terpineol - which make it more similar to lavender than to common sage (Salvia officinalis).

It is used as a fragrance in skincare products and should not be used undiluted directly on the skin.
