Salvia officinalis leaf extract is derived from sage leaves. Native to the Mediterranean region, the plant has been used in cooking and herbal medicine to treat insect bites, inflammation, and fever.

In current herbal medicine, sage extracts are used in mouthwashes and throat lozenges for their antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. Sage tea is known to reduce sweating and hot flashes.
