Raphanus sativus root extract is an antioxidant extract derived from radish root, the same radish that we eat. Radishes are a very healthy vegetable with a spicy pungent taste that is caused by their content of sulfur compounds (glucosinolates, isothiocyanates). Depending on the variety, they also contain red and purple plant pigments called anthocyanins.
All these compounds are potent antioxidants, beneficial in a skincare product. Due to the content of sulfur, however, this extract might have a pungent aroma similar to mustard.
