Raffinose

Overview

Raffinose is a natural trisaccharide (consisting of glucose, fructose, and galactose) originating from some legumes such as lentils, peas, and beans.

In skincare it is used similarly to other oligosaccharides - to help with the moisture retention and as an emollient, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth.

Additionally, Raffinose may have some protective and soothing effect on the skin (but these have been so far only researched in test tubes).
