Punica granatum fruit extract is an extract made from pomegranate fruit. The fleshy and juicy parts of the fruits contain mainly red plant pigments called anthocyanins, as well as other polyphenols. The seeds also contain oil comprised of punicic acid, a rare fatty acid.
This extract has antioxidant and emollient properties and is used in cosmetic formulations aimed at dry, irritated, and sunburned skin.
