Overview
Sweet almond seed meal is made by grinding sweet almonds into a relatively coarse powder. It is made mainly for the purpose of oil pressing (you cannot load whole almonds into an oil press, so they have to be ground) but it can be used as-is in skincare products as well.
The coarse particles are gently abrasive, with the added benefit of being non-drying to the skin. The sweet almond oil is released into the skincare formula and moisturizes the skin after the peeling.
The almond particles have another benefit: they are biodegradable (tiny plastic particles are sometimes used as abrasives and these are a big wastewater issue).
