Overview

Propylene glycol dicaprate is a thin, non-viscous emollient that gives shine with a smooth, non-greasy and slightly powdery after-feel. Typically used in hair care but it can also be used in make-up applications as a pigment wetter, and as a mineral oil replacement in some skincare products.

It is derived from propylene glycol and high purity vegetable fatty acids and in chemistry the material is classified as a diester. It is typically miscible in most oils and in ethanol and has excellent solvency properties for oil-soluble active chemicals.

It is typically colorless and has a neutral odor and can even be used as a food additive.
