Primula veris extract is an extract from either the root or the flowers of the common cowslip, or cowslip primrose. It is a lovely spring flower and has a stable place in the traditional medicine of European countries, where it is used for its expectorant effects (helping to cough up mucus during respiratory infections).
The entire plant contains triterpene saponins and phenolic acids similar to salicylic acid. These are strong anti-inflammatory compounds.
In skincare, this extract may help with skin inflammation and wound healing.
