Overview
Polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate is a natural, PEG-free emulsifying ingredient.
This emulsifier is very oil-loving, and thereby produces water-in-oil emulsions. These emulsions consist of water droplets suspended throughout a continuous oil phase.
A colorless, highly viscous liquid, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate can also be used to thicken and stabilize oil-in-water emulsions, which normally consist of more water-loving emulsifiers, such as cetearyl glucoside. When utilized in any type of emulsion, this ingredient leads to a product with a soft, powdery feel.
It is also a very gentle ingredient, making it popular for sensitive skin and baby care products.
Polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate is listed among common comedogenic ingredients by acne.org.
