Phytosteryl macadamiate is created by taking fatty acids from macadamia oil (mostly oleic and palmitoleic acid) and phytosterols from soybean oil and binding them together in a process called esterification.
It is a solid white mass that melts at body temperature, making it a richly emollient ingredient. It is used to mimic the natural composition of human sebum and is very non-irritating. It also mixes well with the other oily ingredients in a skincare formula.
