Overview

Phoenix dactylifera fruit extract is an emollient extract derived from date fruits, the same ones that are eaten dry or processed into syrups. Dates contain mainly sugar (dried dates have up to 60% sugar content) and various plant-based compounds - mainly tannins.

The date fruit extract is used for its emollient and astringent properties and it makes the skin feel softer, tighter, less oily, and more balanced.

There was one tiny study performed on volunteers who were using a cream with date fruit extract. After 8 weeks the participants reported less sebum and redness as well as better skin elasticity when compared with the placebo cream. These are very good, promising results, but the study was very simple and only done with 11 test subjects (which is too few to make any conclusions).
