Phellodendron amurense bark extract is an extract derived from the bark of the Amur cork tree, Phellodendron amurense. It is a traditional herbal remedy in Chinese medicine and has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in skincare.
Some reviews suggest that it can be used to help treat atopic dermatitis, due to its content of various alkaloids, limonoids, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. One study performed in test-tubes suggests that the extract might suppress the formation of melanoma. Other studies suggest it can be suitable for acne-prone and atopic skin.
All of this, naturally, needs more research.
