Peucedanum Graveolens (Dill) Extract

Overview

Peucedanum graveolens extract is an extract obtained from the dill plant, Peucedanum graveolens (older name Anethum graveolens), that has a distinctively fresh and spicy dill scent. Dill has many culinary uses, including in dill pickles, gravlax, and dill sauce. It is used in the traditional medicine of Eastern Europe to help with flatulence.

The extract contains a good amount of dill essential oil. The main constituents responsible for the typical dill aroma are apiole and dillapiole, as well as carvone. Some research has shown that the dill extract has some antioxidant properties as well.
