Overview

PEG-150 distearate is a polyethylene glycol diester of stearic acid. Supplied as a white flake or pellet, this ingredient is primarily used as an emulsifier for lotions and creams. PEG-150 distearate will produce oil-in-water emulsions that are generally lightweight in feel.

This ingredient can also serve as a cleansing ingredient. Here, it is often used in conjunction with anionic surfactants, like alpha olefin sulfonate, and amphoteric surfactants, like cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, to produce a well-rounded cleansing system.

PEG-150 distearate will also thicken surfactant systems, even maintaining their clarity while controlling the viscosity, to create highly transparent products.
