Overview

PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate is a synthetically manufactured material that is made using corn; specifically, it is derived from the sugar glucose and reacting it with Oleic Acid.

It is considered to be a non-irritant, non-ionic, and it helps increase the mildness of shampoo and wash formulations caused by the harshness of surfactants. It is used primarily as a cost-effective thickener in surfactant and cleansing systems, has a light skin feel, and does not reduce the height of foam.

It can also provide gelling abilities as well as moisturization benefits in certain beauty product formulations. It is an extremely effective thickener and there are limited PEG-free alternatives that can replace this material.
