Overview
PEG-12 dimethicone is used in a variety of skincare products as an emollient due to the smooth and soft skin feel it imparts. It is supplied as a clear, colorless liquid.
It is also useful as an emulsifier, in which it supports the formation of oil-in-water or silicone-in-water emulsions. Emulsions containing PEG-12 dimethicone feature improved spreadability, faster absorption, and a lighter application.
Additionally, as with most dimethicone-based ingredients, PEG-12 dimethicone offers a substantial cushioned aesthetic to the products it is used in.
