Overview
PCA stands for Pyrrolidone Carboxylic acid. Its sodium salt (read a longer article about it here) is one of the main components of our skin's Natural Moisturizing Factor – which binds and keeps a healthy amount of water to the skin’s surface.
PCA is derived from glutamic acid and, in skincare products, acts as a wonderful, skin-identical moisturizing ingredient that prevents the skin’s surface from drying out, especially when combined with proline, another amino acid.
