Paeonia albiflora root extract is extracted from the roots of the common garden peony, Paeonia lactiflora (Paeonia albiflora is an old name).
According to the patent holder, the root extract contains mainly oligosaccharides and polysaccharides (sugar molecules of intermediate and huge length), which act as humectant moisturizers in skincare products, attracting water to the skin’s surface.
They also claim that this extract improves the tone and elasticity of the skin. This hasn't been confirmed by an independent study, and so we cannot be certain of this as of yet.
