Overview
Octyldodecyl myristate is a partially naturally derived ester from the reaction of octyldodecanol and myristic acid. It is practically colorless, odorless, non-reactive, tasteless and is capable of being used in a variety of applications to increase glide and slip in products.
It can be used as an active solubilizer, pigment wetter, and used in pressed powders. It has a rich, but non-oily feel and for this reason it is used commonly in lipsticks and hair products. It can work as a skin condition agent, improve spreadability on the skin, has a low viscosity and is non comedogenic.
Additionally it is used as a excipient in transdermal applications in the pharmaceutical industry.
