Overview

Moringa oleifera seed oil is an oil obtained from the seeds of Moringa oleifera, a fast-growing bush native to Northern India and the sub-Himalayan regions.

All parts of it are either edible or medicinal and the seed kernels contain a significant amount of oil (up to 40%) with a high-quality fatty acid composition. Also known as ‘Behen oil’, it contains mainly oleic acid, as well as many additional anti-inflammatory compounds and high levels of vitamin E.

Cosmetic formulations containing Moringa tree oil have skin-soothing properties and can provide the skin with a unique after-feel due to the presence of the behenic acid (3%–7%) in the oil. This fatty acid has emollient and occlusive properties that contribute to skin hydration.

It has been proven to have beneficial effects on inflammatory skin diseases such as dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis.
