Micrococcus Lysate

Overview

Micrococcus lysate is a mixture created by breaking down bacteria called Micrococcus (usually Micrococcus luteus).

It contains various substances and cell fragments, although, according to its various patents, the most interesting part about it for skincare purposes is its content of a compound called UV-endonuclease enzyme. This enzyme, when packed into liposomes (which help it to absorb into skin cells without damage), has been claimed to have some DNA repairing abilities and long-lasting skin repairing effects.

There have been no tests on living humans to confirm this effect.
