Overview

Melia Azadirachta leaf extract is an antimicrobial extract from Neem leaves – Neem is a traditional name for Melia Azadirachta, an Indian tree related to mahogany.

Used in Indian traditional medicine, Neem leaves have been found to possess antibacterial and antifungal activity which, when paired with their antioxidant properties, make them beneficial for irritated, inflamed, or acne-prone skin.

In an experiment on mice, Melia Azadirachta leaf extract was able to reduce the formation of wrinkles after UVB irradiation in a way similar to retinyl palmitate. This could make it a prospective anti-wrinkle ingredient.
