Mangifera indica seed oil is a fatty, emollient oil extracted from mango seeds. The seeds have to be removed from the hard pit shell and then extracted either by pressing or solvent extraction.
The resulting oil is a pale yellow, made up of almost equal parts stearic and oleic acid. This gives the mango seed oil good stability, but makes it less suitable for oilier skin types, as stearic acid triglycerides can feel oily and heavy on the skin. It is instead best suited for dry skin. It has emollient and occlusive moisturizing properties.
