Overview

Lycium chinense fruit extract is an antioxidant extract obtained from the berries of the Lycium chinense, or, more commonly, Goji berries or wolfberries.

Goji berries can be gathered from two different species of Lycium – Lycium barbarum is the other and more commonly used one. You can read more about its composition and benefits in skincare here.

What they have in common is that they both contain various beneficial compounds in large amounts, notably various polysaccharides, vitamins B and C, carotenoids (mainly zeaxanthin), flavonoids, and phytosterols. Most of these compounds have potent antioxidant properties.
