Overview

Lavandula hybrida oil is an essential oil distilled from a lavender hybrid, Lavandula × intermedia. It is a crossbreed between two most common lavender species: Lavandula angustifolia (true lavender) and Lavandula latifolia (spike lavender). It is used as a fragrance in skincare products.

The two species of lavender have completely different scents. While true lavender contains an essential oil comprised mostly of linalool and linalyl acetate (lavender-scented), spike lavender also contains eucalyptol and camphor, which give it more of a cool, eucalyptus-like scent.

The hybrid lavender (Lavandula × intermedia) has a bit of both – it is still distinctly lavender, but with some more cool camphoraceous notes.
