Overview

Lavandula angustifolia extract is obtained from the flowers of true lavender, Lavandula angustifolia.

Lavender is one of the most popular fragrant herbs and lavender remedies have centuries of tradition. The extract of lavender flowers mostly contains lavender essential oil. The lavender-scented compounds are linalool and linalyl acetate, which are the main constituents of lavender essential oil.

The flower extract contains beneficial phytochemicals such as flavonoids, terpenes and phenolic acids, which have antioxidant and astringent properties and have a general cleansing effect on the skin.

The important thing to remember with all essential oils and fragrant extracts is that some people might be sensitive to the fragrant compounds and it may cause an allergic rash.
