Overview

Jasminum officinale oil is one of the most powerful, rare, and expensive essential oils in the world.

It is extracted from blooming jasmine flowers. The flowers release their scent at dusk and during the night, so flowers are picked in the evening and a tiny amount of oil is obtained by solvent extraction. The resulting oil is so strong that it can only be used in very tiny amounts in skincare and perfumes as a fragrance.

The main jasmine-scented compound in the essential oil is benzyl acetate. The oil has a heavy and sweet scent that has been described as very calming and soothing.
