Isoeugenol is a fragrant compound that can be found in the essential oil of Cananga odorata (ylang-ylang). Its smell is described as very similar to cloves or carnations – creamy and sweet, although a bit more vanilla-like.
Unfortunately, it is also very allergenic and not recommended for people sensitive to perfumes and fragrances. It can be either isolated from essential oils or prepared synthetically from eugenol.
