Overview

Hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate (HSH) is simply the smaller version of regular sodium hyaluronate. It is created through the enzymatic degradation of sodium hyaluronate, which essentially converts one massive molecule into many smaller fragments.

The molecular size of the ingredients registered under this INCI name can range from 1 kDa to 10 kDa, and they are all produced by Bloomage Biotechnology Corp., Ltd. This manufacturer claims that these extremely small hyaluronic acid fragments have excellent skin penetration abilities and various other beneficial properties, including anti-aging, deeply moisturizing, antioxidant, and repairing activity.

They also claim that these fragments work best when combined with the regular-sized hyaluronic acid. There have so far been no independent studies that can confirm these claims.
