Hydrolyzed jojoba esters is a mixture of emollient fatty acids and fatty alcohols obtained from jojoba oil via the process of hydrolysis – a.k.a. breaking down the jojoba wax esters into their components (each molecule of wax ester consists of one fatty acid and one fatty alcohol).
The resulting mixture is mainly used as an emulsifier, helping oil and water to mix in the skincare formula. Hydrolyzed jojoba esters are also occlusive moisturizers that prevent water loss and form an oily film on the skin’s surface.
