Overview

Hydrogenated soybean oil is a solid or semi-solid emollient fat obtained from soybeans and then hydrogenated. Natural soybean oil is made up of mainly unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic and oleic). The hydrogenation process then gets rid of the unsaturated double bonds in the oil, turning it into a thicker, more solid vegetable fat.

Hydrogenated soybean oil is used as an emollient and occlusive moisturizing cream base. It feels heavier on the skin than the natural soybean oil and acts as a thickener.
