Overview

Hydrogenated palm kernel glycerides are solid, emollient fats processed from palm kernel oil. After pressing and refining, the palm kernel oil is separated to isolate the glycerides. These then go through the process of hydrogenation, where they lose all the unsaturated double bonds.

The resulting solid or semi-solid fat is similar to margarine and is used in skincare products as a very oily base, thickener, and occlusive moisturizing ingredient. The ingredient forms a very oily film on the skin’s surface due to the degree of saturation, and so is more suitable for very dry skin.
