Overview
Hydrogenated coco-glycerides is a naturally derived product from coconut / palm oil. Hydrogen is added to the oil in order to turn it into a solid to increase shelf life and stability and decrease oxidation without the need for additional antioxidants. The unsaturated fat of the oil is what is thickened during the process.
It is medium spreading and actually lightweight despite its solid appearance. In products it helps enhance the feeling of creaminess to formulas and can act as a natural petrolatum replacement in certain applications. It helps control viscosity as well as leaves a less greasy shine in comparison to traditional oils and butters.
