Overview

Hibiscus sabdariffa flower extract is an antioxidant extract obtained from bright red hibiscus flowers.

Hibiscus flowers are commonly used for jams, tea, and other beverages. They are bright red and have a characteristic sour taste. Their main bioactive compounds are the red plant pigments anthocyanins, flavonoids, and especially high amounts of organic acids (responsible for its high acidity and sour taste).

There is a study that suggests that hibiscus flower extract may have some anti-aging properties.
