Overview

Glycereth-26 is an ethoxylated ingredient containing 26 units of ethoxylate attached to a glycerin. The large number of ethoxylates simply means this ingredient is excellent at emulsifying and controlling viscosity, particularly in emulsions.

The single unit of glycerin indicates that this ingredient also functions as a humectant. A humectant works by drawing water into the outer layers of the skin, either from deeper layers of the skin or from the environment. Glycerin is an excellent humectant and lends its moisturizing features to glycereth-26.
