Gelidiella acerosa extract is an extract derived from a species of marine red algae, Gelidiella acerosa. It is used for its moisturizing and antioxidant properties in skincare.
The main constituent that can be extracted from this species of seaweed is agar – a humectant seaweed polysaccharide. Gelidiella also contains other types of polysaccharides, as well as various antioxidant compounds such as flavonoids and organic acids.
